Well, I know it’s been a while in the making, but believe it or not this is the first chance I’ve had to upload any photos from the beautiful Irish countryside. Since ‘relocating’ one of the studios to Dublin back in April, ironically most of my commercial shoots have actually been back in ‘mainland Europe’!!!

So here are a few ‘landscape’ images from a recent shoot I did for a travel feature, commissioned, somewhat ironically, from a travel & lifestyle company based in Barcelona, Spain!!!

After the initial launch of the commission (back on the 21st June) the beautiful COCOMAT Barcelona showroom continues to play host to the ‘Summertime Cocos’ collection until the 14th August. All of the photographs are available for purchase and are sold as limited editions of 70 (of course signed by myself, with a recorded provenance and a certificate of authenticity). Simply get in touch with the studio for more info on prices and shipping or ask one of the staff…

Updated Travel Feature – Pura Vida, Costa Rica

After my recent trip to Costa Rica, while on a location recce for PuraVidaEcolodge, I just couldn’t help myself adding a couple of ‘Pure Life’ images to the existing travel feature – ‘Pura Vida, Costa Rica’…In the heart of the rainy season, the colours were fantastic!!!

As we promised an ever so persuasive Bride just after the last of the four epic shoots, here is a wee sneak preview of just some of the magic captured at Steph & Anand’s fantastic wedding celebrations in the roasting sunshine of Morocco… Sooooo much more to come, but enjoy the following before you head home for the weekend! Homeless Gallery Exhibition at D-Light Studios Dublin, opening 3rd of July!

On Sunday 3rd of July, the funky D-Light Studios in Dublin opens its doors to HOMELESS GALLERY Exhibition.We will be there with four limited edition prints from the ‘Barcelona Rear Window’ collection and the lead image from the ‘Cuba, a place lost in time’ collection.

All images, while on display are for sale. Simply get in touch with us for any purchase request– info@joelasky.co.uk.

The opening event of Sunday will include talks, presentations and debates from other photographers, editors and camera equipment specialists – a day not to be missed by any photography lovers!

On top of that, from 2pm there will be a Dj performing and at 6pm the refreshments will kick off!

‘Summertime Cocos’ – Exposición Fotografica en Barcelona 21 Junio @ COCOMAT

Les invito a mi nueva exposición fotografica. Summertime Coconuts

Dado que estrenamos la exposición el dia del solsticio de verano en un sitio tan organico como Coco-mat, el fotógrafo ha querido combinar los temas de verano con cocos. Aunque todas las imagenes de la colección son en blanco y negro, son muy diversas, a menudo incluyendo elementos comicos con toquecitos suaves de yuxtaposición y ironia. La procedencia profecional del fotógrafo es ambos editorial y commercial y la idea es que la colección, aunque diversa, sigue un hilo de ‘reportaje’.

Las imagenes fueron tomadas en una plétora de paises soleados y veraniegos. Desde las islas de Indonesia donde las playas se llenan en el veranito con jovencitos pescando hasta las deltas vastas de Senegal adornadas con piraguas pintadas. Otras imagenes de la colección incluye las islillas facinantes de San Blas en Panama donde sigue viviendo una vida muy unica la tribu de Las Kunas y luego vemos fotografías de las playas hermosas y vacias de Costa Rica, donde crecen cocotero tras cocotero de cada angulo imaginable. Tambien hay fotografías de la India, un pais totalmente embutido con un espíritu que parece doblar cuando salga el sol y finalmente para cumplir la colección ecléctica, fue el destino incluir un toquecito de Barcelona…la ciudad que realmente se espabila el primer dia del verano!

Fivelements in Bali – a holistic retreat which nurtures harmony with spirit, the environment and one another.

For years Bali has been considered as one of those magical destinations on the other side of the world. A place where one can truly lose themselves and absorb a magical energy that the incredibly friendly Balinese people seem to ooze and be more than happy to share. Bali’s beaches and scuba diving are world famous but what about the much harder to get to, and much quieter I might point out, highlands.

In the foothills of Bali’s impressive trio of active volcanoes lies the charming village of Ubud, often referred to as the cultural centre of the island. A short 4by4 drive out of the village and up towards the mountains, where sacred rivers flow and the jungle seems to get even denser lies the holistic retreat of Fivelements. Described by its owners as a healing centre and a place where one can learn to Love and Respect Life.

The ground floor of the 'raw food' restaurant is the heart of Fivelements and provides guests with a fantastic space and energy

One of the interior 'social spaces' of the project has again been designed with a careful eye and a large element of Fen Shui

A bambu-supported entrance with a traditional Bali statue adds to the peaceful atmosphere and the lush natural environment

A lot of the 'living spaces' at Fivelements have combined interior/exterior elements, thus inviting nature and its elements into the spaces themselves.

A 'hot tub' skillfully carved out of volcanic stone...overlooking the river, of course!

The interiors of the beautifully designed 'suites' continue with the sustainably selected material of Bambu, boasting a brilliantly designed bathroom (complete with rain shower) and of course views of the river.
